Roger Vivier Revived and Haute Couture According to Christian Dior…

Ines in Roger Vivier

Two online pieces I recently enjoyed reading:

The London Times writes about the reinvention of Roger Vivier, one of my favorite shoe brands, with the help of French fashion icon (and Chic in Paris subject) Inès de la Fressange.  “As the face of Chanel, Inès de la Fressange cut a glamorous figure in the Eighties.  Today her savoir-vivre and flair for design are Roger Vivier’s secret weapons, breathing new life into a classic brand.”

Inès has done amazing things for this label, which had fallen into near obscurity.  I often turn to a Roger Vivier shoe for a touch of glamour in my daily wardrobe.  Or a clutch to finish off an evening look.  Either way, Roger Vivier is quintessentially chic.  Click here to read the article in full.Dior

The Luxe Chronicles highlights the merits of fashion and Haute Couture, in the words of designer Christian DiorConférences écrites par Christian Dior pour la Sorbonne, 1955-1957, is a set of two lectures written by Dior discussing fashion’s value and beauty.  The courtier’s words reminded me a little of “There Will be Beauty,” a lovely piece in Vanity Fair a few month’s ago.  Click here to read this relevant and rather touching post from The Luxe Chronicles blog.
