The September Issue Movie Trailer

I mentioned the film back in May when Anna Wintour was on 60 Minutes, and now the trailer for Vogue’s documentary The September Issue has hit the web.  The movie appears to offer more than just a behind-the-scenes look at how the magazine’s vital fall fashion issue is put together.  It shows the influence and power that Anna Wintour wields in the industry at large.  From the Chanel and Dior film campaigns to the Valentino documentary, there has been a lot of cinematic fashion of late!  Still, I am excited to see this one come fall…

Men’s Spring 2010 Collections in Milan

The Men’s Spring 2010 shows in Milan concluded yesterday, and there was an interesting variety of collections.  Men’s fashion doesn’t always have the wow factor or buzz that women’s wear begets.   Men have less options and functionality takes precedence.  This season, however, there seemed to be a little more fun on the runway and a few innovations, too.

Prada’s Mathilde Agostinelli Marries in Paris

Congratulations to Mathilde Agostinelli who was married earlier this week to fashion photographer Antoine Meyer in Paris.  Mathilde is featured on my New York – Paris Chic List. Director of PR for Prada in France, she is a quintessential Parisian beauty with style I have always admired.  I often see her at prêt-à-porter or having lunch at the Bristol when I am in Paris, and she looks great every time.

Notes from the FT Business of Luxury Summit

I returned to New York on Wednesday after several days at The Financial Times’ Business of Luxury Summit in Monaco.  It was a nice break from the terrible weather we’ve had on the east coast lately!  More than that, though, the conference was a valuable exchange of luxury news, forecasts and ideas.  There were about 400 attendees and an impressive mix of panelists and speakers.

Isabel Toledo: Fashion from the Inside Out

Last night, The Museum at FIT celebrated the opening of Isabel Toledo: Fashion From the Inside Out, a mid-career retrospective of the designer’s work from the 1980s to present.  I was traveling home from Monaco, so unfortunately I could not attend.  Contributing writer Rebecca Prusinowski stopped by, however, and has reported below on my behalf.  The exhibition sounds really wonderful.  Curators Valerie Steele and Patricia Mears always do a beautiful job, so I will be sure to visit upon my return to New York…
