Andrew GN
GN showed a collection that screams bling bling. He added 18 couture pieces to his Spring 2009 ready to wear. The smiling faces in the front row proved him right. The pieces are perfect outfits for weekend trips to your retreats in Marrakech or Rajasthan. No wonder as India was the inspiration for this colorful collection. Very refreshing in a season that is full of neutrals, whites and blacks.
Akris
Akris is always about wonderfully luxurious fabrics, clean cuts and wearable and understated chic. This season Albert Kriemler had reconstructed a forest on the catwalk, a theme represented in the garments, besides the nude, white and black pieces, I saw lots and lots of green. Also he showed very beautiful printed dresses of pixolated flowers. Overall it was a fabulous, wearable collection for the professional urban woman.
Sonia Rykiel
For Sonia Rykiel’s 40th anniversary show, the chic left-bank maison built up a tent in the Park of Saint-Cloud, an ancient royal hunting retreat, that had burned down during the revolution. The evening commenced with a fabulous dinner, followed by an amazing fashion show, featuring everything Rykiel stands for. Her signature black color pantsuits, berets, rhine-stone lips, stripes and knitwear were everywhere. After the official show was over, Nathalie came on the runway announcing, “a birthday party without surprises is not a birthday party”. Thirty designers, including such illustrious names as Karl Lagerfeld, Olivier Theyskens, Jean Paul Gaultier, John Galliano etc. etc. had created an outfit that represented their personal idea of the Rykiel spirit. The models are always having fun at her shows. They were dancing on the runway as the audience tossed roses ending the evening with a brilliant party that lasted until the early morning hours.
